Brother Kevin Paul has been keeping a ‘secret’ from the rest of the brethren in Zetland Lodge No 561.
Kevin, a Steward in the lodge, has now demonstrated that not only is he an excellent mason, but that he is also a very accomplished woodworker.
Table decoration hand made by Bro K Paul, Zetland Lodge.
Made from various sorts of timber, each piece has been hand- made and turned into a very interesting table decoration which is displayed at the lodge’s festive board. Full of Masonic Symbolism the centre piece has become a talking point and centre of attention for the members and visitors to the lodge.
The master of Zetland Lodge, Worshipful Brother Ged Demoily, was pleased to receive the table decoration from Bro. Paul on behalf of the lodge at their meeting in March, and recorded his thanks in the Lodge Minutes.

Zetland Lodge Donate £300 to Macmillan Cancer Support
At the recent Zetland Lodge Installation, the WM Ged Demoily held a raffle in memory of one of the members Frank Innes, a most valued and respected member, who died on Boxing Day.

Lofthouse Lodge 7793
This autumn an application to the Provincial Grand Charity for a Non Masonic Grant was made on behalf of St. Leonard’s Church Loftus-in-Cleveland by Lofthouse Lodge 6357 The grant application was successful and a sum of £500 was approved and presented to Father Adam Gaunt in St Leonard’s Church on Thursday 20th December.
The grant application was made after St Leonard’s Church successfully hosted the Provincial Church Service in October. The Cheque for £500 was presented to Father Adam by Jim Taylor Charity Steward, he was accompanied by Eric Turnbull IPM, Peter Smith Almoner and Ian Williams PGC Rep.
Lofthouse Lodge was consecrated in 1946; meeting in Loftus Town Hall which is located next door to St Leonard’s Church, and therefore formed a close relationship with the Church.
Lofthouse Lodge moved to Guisborough Masonic Hall in 1974 and has continued to maintain its close ties with this Church. It came to the attention of the Lofthouse Brethren when talking to Father Adam Gaunt, that the interior of St Leonard’s Church was in need of some urgent redecoration and restoration; the interior of the Church having not being repainted for approximately thirty years. It is hoped that the redecoration will take place before Easter.
Father Adam said, “We are thrilled that the application has been successful! This grant now enables us to take our redecoration project forward in 2013 and we very much look forward to St Leonard’s being restored to its former glory in time for our celebrations of Easter.”
Lofthouse Lodge 6357
In April 2012 the Lodge held a St Georges Night which was well attended and through which they raised £435 and this together with a further £200 was donated to Zetland Masonic Properties to assist in maintenance work for the Lodge building.
They also donated £53 to TLC, £226 to Connaught Ct and £100 to the RMBI.
The July meeting of Lofthouse Lodge, No. 6357, took the form of a 'White Linen Evening' organised by Charity Steward Jim Taylor.
Principal Guest was our Provincial Grand Almoner, Derek Gaunt, who outlined for Brethren, Ladies and other Guests the work of the Masonic Charities, illustrating his well-received talk with (anonymous) examples of actual cases.
This was followed by a film documentary, presented by Miss Rachel Taylor as a thank-you for sponsorship received towards her successful Charity Bicycle Ride across Viet Nam and Cambodia.
Among our other Guests we were pleased to welcome Fr. Adam Gaunt, Rector of Loftus, who will host the annual Provincial Grand Church Service at St. Leonard’s, Loftus, on 14th October 2012.
Following this most enjoyable evening, the Charity Steward forwarded cheques totaling £457 to RMBI and the RMBI Home at Connaught Court, York.

Priory Chapter donate £1000 to the Royal College of Surgeons 2013 Chapter Appeal
The Second Provincial Grand Principal was delighted to accept a cheque for £1000 towards the Chapter Bicentenary Appeal in aid of the research fund for the Royal College of Surgeons from the Priory Chapter at their January meeting. This Province is hoping to raise around £25,000 towards the fund before the Annual Chapter Convocation in September and this generous contribution was very favourably received and significantly enhances the amount donated to date. The Chapter had already donated a separate £250 on a previous occasion.
The photograph shows the Chapter Principals, Paul Dawson, Dennis Teasdale and James Skelton (IPZ who was standing in as third Principal for the evening), presenting the cheque to Denis Stubley.

collecting a further £50W. Bro Peter

Following
on from the above article profits from sales of his book have been donated by
Peter to a number of local charities. Most recently support was given to the
Leven Division Guides based at Swainby to assist the purchase of additional
items of uniform worn by the Guides during their visit to an international
Guide Centre in
Switzerland.
The following card records their in appreciation of his efforts.
Pictured

Regiment Royal Horse Artillery (with an interesting piece of kit glinting in
the background behind his left arm)
Following his
deployment to
Afghanistan
he and his men, due to the limited power supplies off base, experienced
problems charging their notebooks and laptops etc. He requested his father, Bro
Brian Gent, Lodge Almoner, to source a "Power Monkey Solar Charger"
which he duly did. With the assistance of the Lodge a ‘Monkey’ was duly
purchased. (Note – Almoner’s can be so helpful in all situations).
Chris has
written with thanks to the Lodge detailing that it is used by him and his
team every time when in Forward Operating Bases where there is little or no
power supply. It has proved a very popular piece of kit and is never short of
charging power in the current temperatures of 40 deg. plus! It gives them the
opportunity to connect to the internet straight away without having to
wait for a battery recharge, possibly missing their slot time to contact
home.
